[07:59] I don't understand why Belugas is so anti-realism. 1) TTD's "Game reality" is not based on "our reality". And it is in so many ways, that trying to force OUR reality in THAT reality just tends to loose the feeling of the initial stuff. What differs the most: a) construction time (rails, bridges, roads, vehicles, industries blablabla) b) cost of stuff is in no way related c) the proportions of objects are way off d) economic rules (like... so much not alike...) i) send so much coal to a power station that it can last for decades on a single trip, but no... repeat the same delivery over and over again... VERY REALISTIC Stockpiling was introduced by Pikka's industries but somehow, many users complained about it in regards of Complexity or Difficulties. Mmmmh... realism has a price? ii) prices for delivery are fixed, there is no competition that can lower said prices Seems that the world has imposed prices and there is no way to change them. How many countries are working like that?? e) travel time vs passage of time i) Having passengers waiting for DAYS at a station would put my company to bankrut in a flash, in real life ii) Having a company who forces passengers to travel for MONTHS just to have high prices would do exactly the same iii) Grains and livestock cannot sustain same kind of treatments either f) a lot more, the list will be expanded as I remember them :) So if ever yo want to add realism to the game, maybe you shold tackle those problems. But doing so, you will had such a layer of comlpexity that most of those who enjoy the game as it is will just flee from it, screaming in pure madness. 2) Users trying to force a feature request with an argument such as "Just as in real life" are often not considering the above facts and are just trying to break the current game's reality to mimic a so called real life. THEIR real life, that is. The fact that such a system is not applicable in another country does not matter. 'IN MY COUNTRY IT IS' That it brings something more to the pleasure of playing is oftenly not the case. That it may be a hell of a bitch to code is not even related. But hey... "It will make the game more realistic" Is it? Or is it a good argument (or so it was supposed to be) to sneak your idea in? 3) The game has a "charm" as is. Most of the time, the "REALITY REQUEST" is based on some ideas taken out from Sims players, or even Locomotion ("They did it in this or that game, why not in yours?") So what? Do we need to be a freaking clone??? If the game is STILL POPULAR after so many years, I think it might be granted to have a style of its own that does not need to be lost by blending in the hips of the moment. 4) I'm not totally anti-realism. I like realism when it fits with game style. But changing stuff just for the sake of doing it like in real life is boring and useless.
